Married to Dr. Sandra Gilliland and father of two boys, Thomas and Micah. With twenty
plus years in collegiate ministry, I am excited to be helping to equip future Ouachatonians
to fulfill His calling in their lives.

What do you like most about your field?
Helping students and their families navigate God's calling in their lives.
Why did you enter the teaching profession?
From the first moment we stepped on campus I knew I would love to be part of the Ouachita
family. Faculty and staff take alike are intentional about every relationship. Everyone
I've met embody the university values of love of God and love of learning. Truly,
Ouachita makes a difference.
What is a favorite moment of working with students at Ouachita?
Ouachita students are intelligent and inquisitive. I enjoy their fearless curiosity
as they probe for truth in conversations.
What is your go-to snack?
I am not a foodie so my tastes are fairly generic. I love meat that is smoked. If
properly smoked, you could make a shoe taste good.
If you were anything other than a professor, what would you be and why?
I love wood working. I would enjoy craftsmanship that demonstrates artistic flare.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
The patio behind the student center that overlooks the Ouachita River.
What would you want a prospective student to know about your program or your administrative
area?
We truly want to see you succeed so please come in and utilize us as a resource.
