Ouachita Department of Theatre Arts presents "Into the Woods"

The Department of Theatre Arts in Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Performing Arts will present “Into the Woods” from Thursday-Sunday, April 16-19, in Jones Performing Arts Center. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday-Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Ouachita students earn multiple awards at Midwest Model U.N. for ninth straight year

Eight Ouachita students participated in the 66th Midwest Model United Nations in St. Louis, Missouri, from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21. Under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Brennan, the university’s student representatives received multiple awards for the ninth year in a row.

Nell Mondy Lecture to feature Chick-fil-A food scientist at Ouachita

Ouachita Baptist University will welcome Cole Reesman, culinary lead at Chick-fil-A’s corporate office, as the featured speaker for the 2026 Nell Mondy Lecture Series on Monday, March 30. The lecture will be held in Walker Conference Center and is free and open to the public.

The Why Behind Our Traditions

While we often want to hold on to the comfort of traditions, I think it’s important to ask why they were important to us. What about the behavior do we long to preserve? I often remind students to think beyond the behavior of a tradition and consider the belief behind it. What is it about the tradition that is important? Often, the importance is found in the why.

Staff Profile: Sonny Jackson

One member of the Ouachita family was Sonny Jackson. Once a professional middleweight boxer in the Pacific Northwest, Sonny wasn't a Ouachita graduate. But he was very much part of the family as a member and later the head of Ouachita's grounds crew.
